School Improvement Advisory Committee
The School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC) is an advisory group made up of representatives from the community as well as the school district. Its purpose is to enhance the relationship between the school and the community and provides an avenue to get information and identify educational concerns from a different perspective. The committee can help assess district needs and set educational goals.
The committee monitors and analyzes assessment data that addresses reading, mathematics, and science achievement progress. The committee makes recommendations to the school board on major educational needs, student learning goals, long-range goals, and harassment and bullying initiatives.
Three major reports are presented and discussed each year: the Annual Progress Report (APR), a state report; the Annual Yearly Progress (AYP), a federal report directly linked to No Child Left Behind; and the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP). One major initiative for SIAC during the 2014-2015 school year is the discussion and investigation into the establishment of core values for the district. SIAC will make recommendations to the school board based on this work.
