Katelyn Zimmerman, Agriculture Education instructor and FFA Advisor at Roland-Story High School recently received the IAAE’s “District Outstanding Young Member” award at the annual Iowa Agricultural Education Summer Conference held at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny, Iowa, June 26-28, 2023.
Zimmerman began teaching at RSHS the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year. This award distinguishes IAAE members who are conducting the highest quality agricultural education programs within their districts and are in their first, second or third year of teaching. The award recognizes leadership in civic, community, agriculture/agribusiness and professional activities. Outstanding agricultural educators are innovators and catalysts for student success in agricultural education
Prior to teaching at Roland-Story, Zimmerman student taught with Brad Taylor (retired Agriculture Educator at RSHS). According to Taylor, “Katelyn is very deserving of this recognition and award. She works very hard to provide the students with educational opportunities to help them develop into the best person they can be while preparing them for careers in the agriculture sector”.
Matt Patton is the Roland-Story District Superintendent and he had this to say about Zimmerman. “Ms. Zimmerman’s exceptional dedication makes her an excellent candidate for the Outstanding Young Member award. She consistently creates enriching educational experiences that not only foster personal growth but also equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the agriculture field and beyond”.
