Superintendent Announcement

The Roland-Story Community School District School Board has named Josh Johnson as the district’s next superintendent!

Mr. Johnson currently serves as director of secondary education for the Waterloo Community School District. There, he has collaborated with the leadership team to oversee a district of 10,000 students, 19 buildings, and thousands of employees. Prior to his current role, he served as a Region 8 administrator for the Central Rivers Area Education Agency.

Mr. Johnson holds a master's degree in education from the University of Northern Iowa and anticipates completing his advanced superintendent certificate in 2026. He has nearly 20 years of experience in K-12 leadership and instruction. He is married to his wife, Lydia, with whom he has four children.

Mr. Johnson brings a wealth of experience in K-12 leadership and administration, and we are excited to welcome him to our educational community. We look forward to the positive impact his leadership will bring to our schools, students, and communities.

The board would like to thank the interview committees, our communities, Mr. Patton, and our entire team for their invaluable support in this decision.
